IT'S STARTING TO GET CHILLY
The effects of Southern Illinois University's unconstitutional de-recognition of the Christian Legal Society student organization are already being felt. Today, CLS held its weekly meeting in a classroom instead of the SBA room. (The SBA room is a conference room used by RSO's and the Student Bar Association). During the meeting, several non-CLS law students were in the classroom doing various things and traffic made its way in and out of the classroom.
It is difficult for a group to hold any kind of official meeting in such an environment let alone one with religious reverence. Last semester sometimes we prayed out loud and sung songs along with a guitar. These expressive activities will be hindered in the environment the school has forced us into. Just imagine what it would be like to discuss sincerely held religious beliefs in such an environment.
Are you getting the message? Orthodox Christian expression is not welcome at SIU and the school is doing its part to get rid of it.
